Where the Easybet app comes from

Easybet has a mobile app, and the download route is different on each platform. On Android you download an APK file from the Easybet mobile site and install it yourself — that means enabling "Install from Unknown Sources" on your phone, because the South African Android build is documented as a sideload, not a Google Play install. On iPhone the app is on the Apple App Store (listings exist for both easyBet Sports Betting and easyBet Betting Exchange — check which one matches the South African product before you tap Get). On Huawei devices it is on the Huawei AppGallery, which matters here because a large share of Huawei handsets sold in South Africa ship without Google Mobile Services and cannot use Play at all. The Android package is small — 4.05 MB — so if you are being offered a 50 MB or 67 MB "Easybet" file, it is not the build described below.

Requirements by platform

Published sources do not agree on this app. The table above uses, for each platform, the source that gives a full requirements set for the South African product. Here is where the others differ, so you can judge for yourself:

• Android version: 1.1.4 (afrik-foot.com). toffeeweb.com states 3.05.01, but it is describing the UK "easyBet Betting Exchange", which looks like a separate product.
• Android minimum OS: "Android 10 or newer" (afrik-foot.com) versus "Android 8.0 or higher" (toffeeweb.com), "Android 8+" (goal.com), "OS 5.0 or higher" (livescore.com) and "Android 5.0+" (sportsboom.co.za). The spread is five OS generations.
• Android file size: 4.05 MB (afrik-foot.com), 5.35 MB (livescore.com), 3.9 MB (sportsboom.co.za) — all in the same range — against ~50 MB (goal.com) and ~67 MB (toffeeweb.com), which are almost certainly a different app.
• iOS: version 1.1.6 and 522.2 KB per afrik-foot.com; toffeeweb.com says 3.0.0, ~67 MB and "iOS 14.0 or later". The Apple listing for easyBet - Betting Exchange states "Requires iOS 15.0 or later", which is why iOS 15 is in the table. Compatible devices per afrik-foot.com: iPhone 6s and newer.
• Huawei: no source publishes a version number for the AppGallery build. Only sportsboom.co.za gives a size (4.47 MB) and compatibility (HarmonyOS and EMUI, no minimum version stated).
• Free storage needed: not consistent either — 50 MB free per livescore.com, 200 MB free per toffeeweb.com. Neither figure is the app size.

No source in this set publishes a RAM requirement, an app price or a release date, so those rows are absent rather than guessed.

Installing the Android APK

The Android build is a sideload: you download a 4.05 MB APK from the Easybet mobile site and install it manually. Before you tap install, check the three things that separate a real package from a repackaged one — the download domain, the file size, and the permissions the installer asks for.

Permissions worth pausing on: storage access (used to save the downloaded package and any bet slips or receipts you export), notifications (bet settlement and promotional pushes), and internet/network state. A betting app has no reason to request SMS access, call logs or contacts. If the installer asks for those, stop and delete the file.

1. Open the Easybet mobile site in Chrome on your Android phone and find the Android app download link.
2. Confirm the download URL is on the Easybet domain before you accept the file — not a file-locker or a mirror site.
3. Tap Download and wait for the APK to finish saving.
4. Open Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps, select Chrome, and turn on "Allow from this source".
5. Open your Downloads folder and check the file size reads roughly 4 MB (documented as 4.05 MB); a 50 MB or 67 MB file is a different app.
6. Tap the APK and read the permission list on the install screen; cancel if it requests SMS, contacts or call logs.
7. Tap Install, then Open when it finishes.
8. Turn "Allow from this source" back off in Settings so nothing else can install silently.
9. Log in with your existing Easybet account — installing the app does not create a new one.
10. Delete the APK file from Downloads once the app runs.

Installing on iPhone

The iOS route is a normal App Store install — no sideloading, no profiles, no "trust this developer" step. The package is small (522.2 KB per afrik-foot.com), so most of the app is loaded from the server after first launch. Devices older than iPhone 6s, or phones still on iOS 14, will not run the current build.

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for Easybet.
2. Check the listing name matches the South African sports betting product before installing.
3. Scroll to Information and confirm the Compatibility line reads iOS 15.0 or later.
4. Check your own iOS version in Settings → General → About and update the phone first if it is below iOS 15.
5. Tap Get and authorise with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
6. Open the app and sign in with your existing account details.
7. As an alternative, open the Easybet site in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen" to get an icon without installing anything.

Installing on Huawei

Huawei handsets sold in South Africa since 2020 mostly ship without Google Mobile Services, so Google Play is not an option on them. Easybet is listed on the Huawei AppGallery, and the AppGallery build is documented at 4.47 MB — slightly larger than the 4.05 MB Android package. No source publishes a version number for the Huawei build, and no minimum HarmonyOS or EMUI version is stated anywhere; compatibility is described only as "HarmonyOS and EMUI".

1. Open AppGallery on your Huawei device and search for Easybet.
2. Check the listed size is around 4.47 MB before installing.
3. Tap Install and wait for AppGallery to finish; no unknown-sources setting is needed for this route.
4. Open the app and log in with your existing account.
5. If the app does not appear in AppGallery on your device, download the Android APK from the Easybet mobile site instead.
6. For the APK route, enable install permission for your browser in Settings → Security → More settings → Install apps from external sources.
7. Verify the downloaded APK is around 4 MB and came from the Easybet domain before you tap it.
8. Disable the external-sources permission again after the install completes.

Data-free access: what is actually documented

"Data-free" in South Africa means zero-rated: the operator pays your network for the traffic, so the site or app loads with 0 MB of data bundle left, as long as you have an active SIM on the relevant network. It is a real differentiator here, and several South African bookmakers run zero-rated versions of their mobile sites for exactly that reason.

None of the sources used to build this page state that Easybet operates a data-free or zero-rated app or site. That is not the same as saying it does not exist — it means no published requirements table, review or store listing in this set documents one, so this page will not claim it. If you see a third-party page promising "Easybet data-free", check it against the Easybet site itself before you rely on it; a zero-rated route is something the operator has to announce and the network has to enable, and it is normally stated on the operator's own pages.

What is documented: the download itself is not free of data. You need roughly 4.05 MB on Android, 4.47 MB on Huawei and 522.2 KB on iOS just to get the app onto the phone, and the small iOS package means most content is pulled from the server on every session. When the app will not open, update or log in

It installs but will not open. The most likely cause is the OS floor. The build documented as 1.1.4 lists Android 10 or newer, while other reviews quote Android 5.0 or 8.0 for the same app — meaning older phones may install a package that then refuses to launch. Check Settings → About phone → Android version. On iPhone the floor is iOS 15 and the oldest supported handset listed is the iPhone 6s; an iPhone 6 or a phone left on iOS 14 will either not offer the app or will install an older, unsupported build.

It will not update. A sideloaded Android APK has no update channel — the app will keep running the version you installed until you go back to the Easybet mobile site and download a newer file. If the new APK refuses to install over the old one, that is a signature mismatch: the two files were signed by different keys, which usually means one of them did not come from Easybet. Uninstall the old app, re-download from the Easybet domain, check the size is around 4 MB, and install fresh. Store builds on iOS and AppGallery update themselves and do not have this problem.

Login fails in the app but works in the browser. Clear the app's cache first (Settings → Apps → Easybet → Storage → Clear cache, keeping data), then force-close and reopen.
